Lakeland Man Arrested Backstage at Disney World

A 37-year-old Lakeland man, Michael Byrne, was arrested at an address in Walt Disney World’s backstage area after an undercover Orange County deputy posing as a 13-year-old boy allegedly received an explicit image and three sexually explicit videos from him on Snapchat. Investigators say records linked the account and phone number to Byrne; he acknowledged the account and conversation but told detectives he did not know he was communicating with a minor. Byrne faces charges of solicitation of a minor via computer, transmitting material harmful to minors, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and was held without bond. Disney said Byrne is not an employee, though reports differ on whether the company had responded about how he accessed the area.
