NWS Issues Tornado Warning Across Piedmont Counties
Rain and thunderstorms are expected across parts of the Carolinas, with forecasts warning of gusty winds, heavy rainfall and a risk of isolated tornadoes. A tornado warning was issued for Anson, Montgomery, Richmond and Stanly counties after a storm capable of producing a tornado was reported near Ansonville; residents were urged to seek sturdy shelter. Raleigh’s forecast also called for a stormier Sunday, with a few storms potentially bringing damaging wind gusts or a brief tornado, followed by sunnier weather early in the week. A separate Piedmont Triad forecast tied the weekend’s rain and severe-weather risk to Isaias, citing a flood watch and possible locally heavy rainfall.
