Owl Rescues, Sightings Span Three States

Texas DPS Trooper Raymond Torres found an injured great horned owl in the median of I-10 near Van Horn and stayed with it until Texas Parks and Wildlife personnel could take over. The owl, whom Torres named Big Tejano, was transported to the El Paso Zoo for treatment, including fluids and food, and was checked for internal injuries. The rescue highlighted cooperation among state agencies in caring for injured wildlife.
