A pickup truck collided with a westbound train late Oct. 11 on Albon Road near State Route 2 in Springfield Township, Lucas County, killing driver Michael Jones, 57, of Monclova. The 2023 Ford Maverick overturned, and no injuries were reported aboard the train. Highway Patrol reports said the truck went through lowered crossing gates, which were reportedly operating; Jones was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor. The roadway was closed for about five hours, and the crash remains under investigation.
