Polls report Shapiro, Democrats, Labour leading races
Recent polls show varied political fortunes across the United States and United Kingdom. In Pennsylvania, Gov. Josh Shapiro leads Republican challenger Stacy Garrity 52% to 31%, a margin that has persisted across four polls ahead of their debate. A national party-identification survey put Democrats ahead of Republicans 47% to 42% among voters who identify with or lean toward a party, though the gap narrows to one point among voters who do not count leaners. In New Mexico, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s unfavorable rating slightly exceeds her favorable rating, while 57% of voters view President Trump unfavorably. In the United Kingdom, Labour leads the latest voting-intention poll with 27%, ahead of Reform UK at 22% and the Conservatives at 20%.
