Porsche to Offer Gasoline Macan Again in 2028 Alongside Electric Version

Porsche CEO Michael Leiters says the company will bring back a gasoline-powered Macan in 2028, selling it alongside the electric version as it adjusts to weaker-than-expected EV demand. Leiters describes the move as restoring a balance between combustion and electric models, not abandoning Porsche’s electrification plans, and says the company must avoid unnecessary duplicate investment in the same vehicle segments. The strategy follows declining electric Macan sales and weaker deliveries in China, pressures that have contributed to the automaker’s broader turnaround challenges. Leiters has also ruled out a fully electric 911, while Porsche continues to develop other electric models.
