Rain Delays Roadwork Across Multiple States
Road and infrastructure work is affecting travel in several areas, with weather delaying projects in Colorado, Iowa and Knoxville, Iowa. In Tennessee, Oak Ridge will begin a four-week water-main replacement on Oct. 12 at South Illinois Avenue, Tulsa Road and ORAU Way, while Knoxville-area drivers should also expect weekend traffic impacts from storms, construction near Neyland Stadium and a downtown Greeneville event. La Plata County’s County Road 500 paving is now expected to resume the week of Oct. 19 after equipment repairs and severe-weather forecasts delayed the work. In Fremont County, Iowa, Highway 2 is expected to reopen by Oct. 29 after rain pushed back repairs; the detour remains in place. Knoxville, Iowa’s annual street-improvement work has also fallen behind schedule because of heavy rainfall, though officials hope to make progress as weather improves.
