Sarasota Deputy Shoots Suspect After He Fires
Authorities say Casey King, 39, was involved in gunfire at a Sarasota McDonald's parking lot early Sunday before deputies tracked him to his home on Hoyer Drive. After deputies ordered him to surrender, King allegedly fired at them. A deputy returned fire, striking him multiple times. King was transported to a hospital in critical but stable condition. He faces five counts of attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer. Officials said there is no ongoing threat to the public. Investigators are continuing to examine both shootings, including the initial gunfire at the McDonald's parking lot and the exchange at King's home.
