Natalia Silva Wins UFC Flyweight Title

Natalia Silva won the vacant UFC women’s flyweight title at UFC 332, defeating Wang Cong by unanimous decision and extending her winning streak to 15; she says she intends to defend the belt actively. Former champion Valentina Shevchenko vacated the title because of injury and is the leading potential challenger if she returns soon; Alexa Grasso is a prominent alternative if Shevchenko’s recovery takes longer, while Erin Blanchfield is also in contention. Payton Talbott stopped former champion Deiveson Figueiredo in the first round, his second consecutive win over a former champion, and called out Sean O’Malley; Raul Rosas Jr. and Cory Sandhagen are also possible opponents. The Salt Lake City card set modern UFC records for knockouts and first-round knockouts.
