Syracuse-Akron Soccer Test Was Scheduled
Syracuse men’s soccer traveled to face No. 18 Akron on Oct. 6 in a nonconference match viewed as a valuable test for the Orange as they pursued an NCAA Tournament berth. Syracuse entered unbeaten in its previous four games, including a win over then-No. 10 Notre Dame and a draw with then-No. 10 Pitt; Akron was 6-1-2 and coming off a 2-0 win over DePaul. The teams had not met since Akron beat Syracuse in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, and the Zips led the all-time series 3-1. Syracuse had spread its scoring across 12 players, with Pedro Gulli leading the team, while the remaining schedule included several ranked opponents and could determine the Orange’s postseason prospects.
