Teens arrested after shootings in California, Florida

A 16-year-old boy was arrested after police say he assaulted a juvenile girl he knew and fired shots at an occupied vehicle near Ceres Avenue and Garden Park Drive in Chico. He fled in a light-colored sedan, which officers later found outside a home on Whitewood Way; after a shelter-in-place order and a search, he and the other occupants left the home, and he surrendered. Police recovered two firearms from a backpack belonging to the teen. He faces allegations including shooting at an occupied vehicle, aggravated assault with a firearm, and firearm-related offenses; the case will go to Butte County Probation for review before prosecutors decide whether to file charges. Police said the people involved knew one another and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
