Three Die in Separate Crashes Across Florida, Texas

Two separate fatal crashes were reported in Odessa, Texas. In one, a pickup driven by Bryan Torrez struck the rear of an 18-wheeler that was slowing to turn on South Highway 385; Torrez was taken to a hospital and later died. In the other, a car driven by Abraham Almeida Pena entered the Huntington Avenue and West 26th Street intersection without yielding and collided head-on with a motorcycle ridden by Thomas Wilson Evans. Evans, who was not wearing a helmet, died several days after being airlifted to a Lubbock hospital; Pena was not injured. Authorities said the motorcycle crash remains under investigation.
