Prosecutors drop charges in Kalamazoo stabbing after video review
Three people—a 17-year-old and two 18-year-olds—suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a box-cutter stabbing during a fight between two groups near Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Police arrested a 21-year-old man and sought information, including cellphone video, while investigating whether others were involved. Prosecutors later declined to charge the man, saying there was no reasonable probability of conviction; the prosecutor said video supported the man’s account that six to eight people had assaulted him and that his actions were in response. One of the injured people reportedly told police the group had “jumped” the man and was reluctant to pursue the case.
