Two Michigan Crashes Kill Drivers, Causes Under Investigation
Thirty-year-old LaPorte resident Matthew Borders died in a single-vehicle crash around 8:20 a.m. Sunday on East Michigan Boulevard in Michigan City, Indiana. Police said his pickup, which was towing an enclosed trailer, crossed the center line and both westbound lanes before striking a guardrail and overhead signpost. The impact severely damaged the truck and trailer and scattered the trailer’s contents across the roadway, which was closed for several hours during the investigation and cleanup. Toxicology results are pending, and investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information or video to contact them.
