Underground Electrical Fire Closes Downtown Tallahassee Roads, Courthouse
An underground electrical fire near the Leon County Courthouse in downtown Tallahassee damaged roads early Tuesday, prompting emergency crews to respond and officials to urge the public to avoid the area. Road closures, including portions of Monroe Street and nearby roads, were expected to last through the day, while a planned power outage affected traffic signals and nearby buildings as crews assessed and repaired damage. Leon County closed the courthouse and annex, and detention-facility visitation was also temporarily suspended.
