Crash and Road Closures Affect Multiple Regions

A crash blocked the northbound I-27 access road at South Loop 289 in Lubbock Tuesday evening, preventing drivers from passing under the bridge to reach the westbound Loop 289 cloverleaf; no serious injuries were reported. Road closures are planned for Wednesday, Oct. 7, on Coldwater Road in Genesee Township for culvert paving, Morgan Road in West Springfield for emergency water-main repairs, and Deaver Road in Bartholomew County for culvert replacement. West Springfield officials are directing drivers to detours and asking residents to conserve water during repairs. In Boulder, a $76.5 million flood-control project will close the 308-acre CU Boulder South site for three to five years; officials say it will protect about 2,300 residents, while some residents object to its impact on open space. Thunder Bay plans to close the Red River Road and Court Street intersection for up to a week beginning Oct. 13 for streetscape and traffic-signal work, while La Plata County Road 500 will close from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday for an emergency culvert replacement ahead of forecast rain, leaving some homes north of the closure without an alternate route.
