Regions Expect Near-Record Heat, Late-Week Cooling
Unseasonably warm weather is bringing near-record or record highs to parts of the Midwest and Great Lakes early this week, with sunshine and temperatures reaching the 80s and, around Detroit, potentially the upper 80s. In Mid-Michigan, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected late Monday into Tuesday morning, but severe weather is not forecast and rainfall should generally be light. Other areas may see additional showers or storms Tuesday night into Wednesday as a cold front moves through, followed by a sharp return to more seasonal—and in some places chilly—conditions later in the week, with possible frost by Saturday. In New Orleans, near-record warmth and mostly dry, low-humidity weather are expected through Friday; a dry front should bring brief cooler weather over the weekend, while increasing winds and seas may prompt small-craft advisories.
