Women plead guilty, convicted in separate child deaths

In Missouri, 27-year-old Kourtney Taylor Aumen pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and first-degree assault in the 2020 death of 4-year-old Jessica Joy Mast, whom authorities said was beaten and repeatedly dunked in a freezing pond. In Colorado, a jury found Samantha Kimberly guilty of first-degree murder, two counts of child abuse and accessory to a crime after prosecutors presented evidence that her 3-year-old son suffered a fatal brain injury amid months of abuse and her 14-year-old son was also injured. Kimberly is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 26.
