South Dakota Extends Guard ICE Deployment Through 2027
South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden extended seven National Guard members’ administrative support for ICE through September 2027, with federal funding; officials say the deployment has assisted with 1,013 deportations. The state also announced about $480,000 in added federal support for Highway Patrol officers participating in ICE’s 287(g) program, while corrections officials continue transferring some inmates to ICE custody.
