About Phalaenopsis

Phalaenopsis was a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She won the 1998 Oka Sho and Shuka Sho, as well as the 2000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, among other races. She was named the JRA Award for Best Three-Year-Old Filly in 1998 and the JRA Award for Best Older Filly or Mare in 2000. Her name comes from the scientific name for the phalaenopsis orchid.
