Study Finds AI Misses Psoriasis in Darker Skin
A study found that AI systems struggled to identify psoriasis in images of people with darker skin, with the best models reaching only 25% accuracy, underscoring risks of missed diagnoses. Separately, dermatology experts said older adults should not be denied effective biologics based on age alone, while an Eli Lilly study reported that combining psoriasis drug Taltz with obesity drug Zepbound improved skin clearance and weight loss compared with Taltz alone.

About psoriasis
Psoriasis is a long-lasting, noncontagious autoimmune disease characterized by patches of abnormal skin. These areas are red, pink, or purple, dry, itchy, and scaly. Psoriasis varies in severity from small localized patches to complete body coverage. Injury to the skin can trigger psoriatic skin changes at that spot, which is known as the Koebner phenomenon.
