Kansas City Committee Backs Royals Stadium Financing

A Hunden Partners report projects that a new Royals ballpark at Crown Center could draw about 2.1 million game attendees in its first year and generate tax revenue through a roughly four-square-mile district, helping repay public financing for the estimated $2 billion project. The projections also count on surrounding development and events, but critics caution that stadium spending may shift activity from elsewhere rather than create lasting economic growth.
