Reports: Oleshky Residents Risk Mined Roads for Food
Residents of Russian-occupied Oleshky in southern Ukraine face worsening shortages of food, water and medicine, with local shop deliveries reportedly last arriving in May and electricity, heating and water supplies also unreliable. Some are making hours-long trips on foot or by bicycle to obtain supplies along mined roads exposed to attack drones; one woman said she was injured by a mine, and residents reported deaths on the route. Ukrainian officials say residents risk starvation if they stay and have proposed a local ceasefire and evacuation routes, which Kyiv says Russia rejected. Russia acknowledges serious supply problems but says its military is working to address them and blames Ukraine for obstructing deliveries.
