Democrats Add Six Trump-Won Districts to House Targets
The DCCC on Oct. 5, 2026 added six candidates to its Red to Blue program, growing the list to 46. They are Chris Jones (AZ-2), Dwayne Romero (CO-3), Eliott Rodriguez (FL-27), Teresa Benitez-Thompson (NV-2), Blake Gendebien (NY-21) and Justin Pearson (TN-9), in districts Trump won by an average of 16 points or more in 2024 per the DCCC. Brooke Butler said anywhere between 218 and 240 Democratic seats feels very viable. Hakeem Jeffries told reporters Sunday that House Democrats are poised to take back the majority and to repeat their 2018 approach of flipping Trump-won seats. Jeffries said Republicans are failing and flailing, that the American people are not buying what MAGA Republicans are trying to sell, and that the Republican gerrymandering scheme has failed, while cautioning that anything and everything is possible. The midterms fall on Nov. 3, 2026. Mike Johnson campaigned in California last week and is set for more than 40 districts in about 20 states; Jeffries traveled Western states over the weekend. PBS/AP reported eight districts added to the DCCC target map, including Kansas, Oklahoma, Virginia and Washington; other coverage cited the six Red to Blue additions. Trump said Sept. 10 he would act as a blocker if Democrats win Congress. DelBene and Beyer introduced a bill requiring congressional approval for certain national-emergency tariffs.
