2026 Voter Registration and Voting Deadlines
Voting preparations are underway for the Nov. 3, 2026, U.S. general election, with ballots arriving on California’s Central Coast and Colorado county clerks mailing ballots; California officials recommend returning ballots early, using a postal-counter postmark or an official drop box, and some counties accept ballots in person without a return envelope. Registration deadlines vary: South Carolina’s online deadline was Oct. 4 and mailed applications must be postmarked by Oct. 5; Oct. 5 deadlines are reported in Texas, Arizona, Kentucky, Georgia and Alaska, Nebraska applications are due Oct. 23, and eligible Iowa voters can register on Election Day with identification. Texas residents can check registration status online but cannot complete registration entirely online, and voters are encouraged to verify their details and check local rules. Early voting is scheduled for Oct. 7–30 in Arizona, Oct. 13–30 in Georgia and Oct. 19–Nov. 3 in Alaska; Edina residents can vote early at City Hall on Oct. 31 for two City Council seats, though it will not be an Election Day polling place. Windsor and Chatham-Kent, Ontario, have municipal voting on Oct. 26, with advance-voting options and free bus rides in Windsor, and in-person advance voting and online voting from Oct. 8–16 in Chatham-Kent; Hamilton and Brantford have also begun or scheduled advance voting, with Brantford offering online voting. Voters should check with local election officials for current eligibility, deadlines, voting options, locations and absentee-ballot rules.
