NYPD Releases Response Footage After ICE Shooting
The NYPD released body-camera footage showing officers responding after an ICE agent shot and wounded 28-year-old Oscar Bergal in Marble Hill, New York; it shows Bergal handcuffed and receiving treatment before officers take him for medical care, but does not capture the shooting or what led to it. Federal officials have acknowledged that a five-year-old child was in Bergal’s car, though agents did not know the child was there at the time; the boy was later found safe. The release has intensified demands for the ICE agent’s body-camera footage, which officials say exists, as well as protests and calls for ICE to end its New York operations.
