Guardians bats go cold in Game 2 loss, trail White Sox 2-0

The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 in Game 4 to tie the American League Division Series at two games apiece and force a winner-take-all Game 5 in Cleveland on Saturday. After falling behind 2-0, Cleveland rallied on Patrick Bailey’s pinch-hit home run, José Ramírez’s two-run homer and a six-run sixth inning capped by Jo Adell’s two-run single. The Guardians are seeking to become the first team since the 2017 Yankees to overcome a 2-0 deficit in a best-of-five postseason series. Chicago’s bullpen faltered during the rally, and Gavin Williams closed out the game after Miguel Vargas homered off closer Cade Smith in the ninth. The winner of Game 5 will advance to face the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Championship Series.
